Embattled Dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel will have to wait until the end of this summer for his conspiracy trial to begin.
The Portmore Empire deejay appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court in Kingston this morning alongside long-time protégé, Vanessa Saddler aka Gaza Slim and his studio engineer, Andre Henry aka Pim Pim where they were scheduled to begin their conspiracy trial in relation to the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams murder case.
However, the trial was postponed until August 29 after each of the accused’s lawyers absent from court this morning. Reportedly, their defense team was engaged in the Supreme Court with another matter, thus rendering their inability to make today’s hearing in the conspiracy case.
Vybz Kartel, Gaza Slim and Pim Pim are charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and perverting the course of justice in relation to the Clive’ Lizard’ Williams murder case. The charges stem from a police report that was filed by Gaza Slim, claiming that she had been robbed by Williams. The report, which Pim Pim allegedly assisted in formulating, was issued five days after Kartel’s was charged with murder in the Williams case.
Gaza Slim and Pim Pim are currently on bail while Kartel remains behind bars.
Kartel’s next scheduled court date in the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams case has been scheduled for June 8.
