Ce' Cile's songs rocket up german charts

Dancehall 'bad gyal' Ce' Cile is double trouble in Germany where two of her songs are rocketing up the German Black chart. The chart, initiated in 2003, is used to track the success of popular songs in urban venues. The chart is dominated by contemporary R&B, rap and hip hop and lists the most popular R&B, rap and hip-hop songs calculated weekly by airplay on rhythmic and urban radio stations and sales in urban record stores and dance club play.

The singer, who performed in the Cayman Islands and Reggae Sumfest in recent weeks, is currently in Europe where she enjoys enormous success. Her song Step Aside on the Kingstone/Groove Attack label is currently at number 13 on the Black charts shooting up from number 24 the week before. The singer would be even more pleased with the position of her other song on the charts, Singing This Song, is the first single from her album Jamaicanization. That song now sits at number 4, rocketing up from number 19, the week before. The charts will be updated today. "The German Black charts are basically what the deejays are playing and I'm very happy about it (the success of the songs)," she tells THE WEEKEND STAR.

The focus now, she says, is to do what is necessary to ensure that the songs continue to do well. "Hopefully, we get enough support to keep the songs in those charts and also to get added to more radio stations," she said. "We have been added to quite a few already and I would love to get the songs on even more."

She added that she hopes to get a video done soon for Singing This Song as that would certainly help with the song's growing popularity. "We're working on it. It's a lot of hard work and travel back and forth because what is hot in Jamaica has nothing to do with the German or European scene unless it coincides with a mainstream break in the United States," she said.
