Beenie now has US visa
SELF-proclaimed King of the Dancehall, Beenie Man can now travel to the United States, as his visa has been reinstated.
The artiste's management team confirmed that 'The Doctor' received his visa yesterday morning, but declined to give details. They did, however, indicate that the artiste had no immediate plans for travel or performances in the United States.
The reinstatement of Beenie Man's visa follows sharply on the heels of fellow deejay Mavado, who also had his US visa returned and is set for performances in the US in August.
Beenie Man and Mavado were among five Jamaican entertainers who had their US visas and work permits revoked in May last year. The other entertainers who were part of the group were deejays Bounty Killer and Aidonia and sound system selector Ricky Trooper. Those artistes joined fellow deejays Vybz Kartel and Sizzla who had their visas revoked earlier.
In May last year, the names of the five entertainers appeared on official correspondence which stated that the United States Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica is in the process of revoking their visas. The document, which was sent to a number airlines, warned that these entertainers should not be allowed to board any flight bound for the United States.
