Vybz Kartel and Corey Todd to resume business partnership
Almost a year after severing business ties due to controversial circumstances, incarcerated Dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel and prominent American entrepreneur, Corey Todd are set for a reunion.
According to IRIE FM, the former business partners will be reuniting to carry out a recent business deal that was agreed to between the two parties. According to Todd’s publicist, Claude Mills, both Kartel and Todd have agreed to unveil several products, including the revival of Street Vybz Rum.
Additionally, it was revealed that Todd and Kartel have been exchanging letters since the Portmore Empire deejay was arrested and later charged with murder, drug and obstruction of justice related charges last fall.
Corey Todd and Vybz Kartel formed on of the music industry’s most formidable partnerships in 2008, creating several brands including Vybz Rum, Daggering Condoms and the aforementioned Street Vybz Rum. Additionally, they collaborated on running the prominent Dancehall club, The Building (now Club Riddim) where they would have weekly sessions, including, Street Vybz Thursdays and Inclusive Saturdays.
The duo fell out last May after Todd alleged that Kartel threatened his life. Since his departure, he began recruiting several prominent Dancehall musicians such as Beenie Man, Aidonia, Khago, former Portmore Empire singjay, Jahvinci and highly acclaimed producer, Ainsley ‘Notnice’ Morris where they would collaborate musically as well as promote Todd’s Yaad Stout and Yaad Swag liquor brands.
However, the business deals involving Todd and these musicians were short-lived as the American businessman to focus his attention towards his entrepreneurial ventures.
