Yendi Phillipps and Chino expecting first child
Former Miss Jamaica Universe and internationally acclaimed model, Yendi Phillipps has announced that she’s pregnant with her first child.
The runner up of the 2010 Miss Universe competition made the announcement via her official Facebook page late Sunday night, revealing that she’ll be expecting a baby with prominent Dancehall/Reggae singjay and multiple brand ambassador, Daniel ‘Chino’ McGregor who she has been dating in recent months. Additionally, she posted a picture of her growing belly with what appears to be Chino’s hand holding hers.
Phillips issued a message to her over 142,000 Facebook fans, reading, "17 weeks and counting...I wish we could have shared it earlier but you know they say it’s bad luck to announce too soon. I'm so excited to finally tell you that we have a little 'McGregor' on the way! You know how much I value "you" as you've been such a support through my various ventures so I wanted you to know first-hand as this one is perhaps my most exciting to date! I feel truly blessed and am more amazed every day to experience our creator in such a miraculous and organic way. Seasoned mommy's, don't hold back on the advice...hehe *wink* Love, Blessings...and Life :)"
Since posting her pic and message, thousands of fans have offered their congratulations and support to Yendi and Chino on their achievement while some even took shots at former world record holding sprinter, Asafa Powell who previously dated the former Miss Jamaica World.
Chino, who hails as the song of Reggae legend, Freddie McGregor and ha a three year old daughter from a previous relationship, expressed his joy regarding the news, intimating in an interview with the Jamaica Gleaner that he and Yendi are prepared for parenthood.
"I am very excited about the upcoming birth of my son or daughter. Yendi is an extremely responsible person and we were ready for this move, so I feel comfortable, excited and ready because she is a great partner and I have no doubt she will be a great mother who will help to instill positive values in our baby," he said.
As for a possible marriage between the budding couple, Yendi and Chino aren’t considering that for now but will let their career paths and their initial stages as parents dictate whether or not they should go in that direction.
Yendi Phillipps’ most recent public appearance was at last week’s Bacchanal Road March in Kingston which concluded this year’s Carnival season in Jamaica. Meanwhile, Phillipps continues to remain an in-demand public figure as she currently hold brand ambassador roles for telecommunications outlet, Digicel and Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee while hailing as the host of Air Jamaica's/Caribbean Airlines Island Stylee in-flight video.
