Currently incarcerated Reggae superstar, Buju Banton will walk free soon; at least that’s what a popular African priest wants us to believe.
Ghanaian fetish priest, Nana Kwanu Bonsam made a bold prediction during a recent interview with Hitz FM host, Black Rasta during his program, Taxi Driver on the Jamaican radio station. In the interview, Bonsam intimated that not will the iconic Reggae singer walk out a free man soon, he will unleash a slew of hit songs that will captivate local and international audiences like never before and elicit strong emotions through their messages.
Bonsam’s prediction was sparked following an encounter with a Guyanese woman named Pixie who resides in Ghana after the Taxi Driver program called him to interpret a dream she had about Buju.
In said dream, the woman, “saw Buju in a lonely American court being shaved of his locks and beard. He later caught a taxi out of the court house in New York City. Pixie wondered why a rich man like Buju will be in a taxi rather than in his private car but she remembered he had just been released from jail.”
After a Ghanaian pastor initially interpreted it as Buju losing all his power like Sampson in The Bible after his hair was cut, Bonsam translated it as sadness that the singer has been experiencing behind bars as well as him regretting the idea of entrusting property in the hands of friends he thought he could rely on.
Bonsam has been known to make thought provoking predictions before; forecasting the freeing of Jesus One-Touch as well as some accidents and fires in his homeland late last year. Whether or not his latest declaration will become a reality remains to be seen.
Buju Banton remains in a Miami prison where he’s serving a ten year prison sentence on three drug related charges stemming from a December 2009 incident in Florida. Currently, the Reggae icon awaits word on an appeal made by his lawyer, David Oscar Markus, who maintains that his client was entrapped by a former drug dealer turned government informant, Alex Johnson while also claiming a constitutional violation prior to Buju’s initial trial. The U.S. Government filed a counter appeal, insisting they have enough evidence to convict the Grammy-winning singjay while asking the courts to reinstate a gun charge that was previously thrown out in the case.
