Facebook to stream Marley documentary during its premiere
Fans of the highly anticipated documentary on Reggae legend, Bob Marley will have the chance to see the film through social media while it premieres across American theatres.
According to the Associated Press, Marley will make its debut in the United States on April 20, a day after its premiere in Jamaica at Emancipation Park in Kingston. While the biopic based on Bob Marley’s life is shown in theatres across the U.S., fans will be able to watch the movie online via Facebook. The social media hub will be streaming the documentary simultaneously, possibly indicating the impact of social media on shifting movie release windows.
Marley, which is directed by Academy Award winning director, Kevin MacDonald and co-produced by Reggae superstar and Bob Marley’s eldest son, Ziggy Marley will also be available for rental for US$6.99, starting April 20. Part of the proceeds from Facebook’s sales of the documentary will go towards Save the Children, a charitable organization that caters towards helping children in need.
